A genuine antique bureau mirror, rescued and reimagined by hand — finished in our signature cottage white with an original mermaid design. Drawers for treasures, a mirror for daydreams. One of a kind. When she’s gone, she’s gone.
She’s a true antique with a story to tell. From the late 1800s to early 1900s, a toilet mirror — a bureau mirror, as they were also called — was the space-saver of her day: made for those who hadn’t room for a full-sized vanity, she sits right atop an ordinary dresser. This one has been lovingly reimagined at Sea Maid’s Cottage with a mermaid theme, as befits a Sea Maid treasure. Her mirror tilts to just the angle you love, and beneath it waits a sweet little drawer, just right for jewelry and small treasures. My pieces are meant to be statement pieces — she is meant to stand out and be the treasure of the room, whatever your theme. There is no need of a nautical room to love her; she brings the mermaid with her. She is one of a kind, hand-finished by an HGTV featured artist.
